Veteran comic actor Kofi Laing popularly known as Kohwe has stated that he would have died out of depression if not for the love he had for acting.
According to the comic actor, he wasn’t able to acquire anything useful from his acting career.
Kohwe added that he is glad he was able to entertain people with his God-given talent and has never regretted his actions.
He also revealed that he quit his job at the Foreign Affairs Ministry to pursue his dream of acting.
“Though we had to accept any role because the directors and producers had their favorite people and we were paid little, I am glad I was able to entertain people with my God giving talent and did the work, not for money.
I don’t regret acting comedy because I would have died long ago like some of my colleagues died out of depression, sorrow and as paupers”, Kohwe stated.
The veteran actor also sent a passionate appeal to Ghanaians to show love, care and financial assistance to old actors while they are alive and not wait till they pass away.
According to Kohwe, most of the old actors died as paupers and does not want to suffer the same fate.
“Don’t wait for me to die, before you pay glowing tribute to me for my wonderful contribution, your tribute will be meaningless because it will not bring me back to life”, he added.
