Mohammed Salisu has affirmed his decsion not to represent Ghana at the international level and has reiterated his stance when Alhaji Grusah reached out to him.

The Southampton defender has backed away from accepting numerous call-ups into the Black Stars. He had stated in the past that he was “not ready” to play for Ghana yet.

Although the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have tried frantically to talk him into rescinding his decision since his skills and services are required in the Black Stars, those talks have not yielded much.

On the back of that, experienced football administrator Alhaji Karim Grusah was tasked to use his influence to convince Mohammed Salisiu to join the Black Stars especially ahead of the World Cup decider against Nigeria in March.

Well, the effort has fallen flat. Mohammed Salisu, according to Alhaji Grusah, has once again said he would not play for the Black Stars yet.

Per the conversation that ensued between the two parties, Mohammed Salisu said Alhaji Grusah wouldn’t convince him to play for Ghana, knowing all the conditions, if he were his son.

Mohammed Salsisu said he would not play for the Black Stars. His sharp reply to Alhaji Karim Grusah was expressed as follows:

“The Chairman of the Black Stars assigned me the task of speaking with Salisu because he is from Kumasi. I called his father, and he put me in touch with him. Salisu flatly told me to stay out of his business. He asked if, if he were my son, I would advise him to play for Ghana.”

“When I called him, he was furious. He insisted several times that I stay out of the situation because he doesn’t want to get into a fight with me. I’m not going to get involved in his situation again. I’m not sure what his issue is with the GFA, but I’m not going to call him again.”

Mohammed Salisu, is currently, one of the top defenders in the Premier League. He leads the list as far as interceptions made this season are concerned.
