Ghpage.com reported on 16th August 2018 when two finalists of “Face of University Students Association USAG” beauty pageant drown during a photo shoot. They were identified as Lily Ampofowaa Asiedu and Sara Kwarteng. The accident occurred at Oasis beach in Cape Coast.
On that day, Thursday night 16th August 2018, the two were on a rock taking photos when a strong wave of the ocean swept towards the shores and washed them away.

Director of Public Affairs of the University of Cape Coast, Major (rtd) Baah Bentum, who confirmed the unfortunate death of the two finalists, revealed that they were part of a group of students who were attending the annual congress of the University Students Association (USAG) hosted by the UCC.
Besides the two beauty contestants, the photographer also sustained severe injuries and was admitted at the University of Cape Coast hospital. The body of Lily Ampofowaa Asiedu who was there to represent the University of Ghana, Legon was retrieved that same night.
But the remains of Sara Kwarteng who was there to the University of Education, Mampong Campus was retrieved on Sunday, 19th August 2018.

The families of both ladies have announced funeral/ dates for their daughters. The funeral service for Lily Ampofowaa Asiedu who hails from Kumasi will be held at Dunwell Methodist, Dichemso near Serwaa Nyarko Snr. High Sch. on Thursday 30th August 2018.
Just like Lily, Sara Kwarteng is also from Kumasi and her funeral service will be held at Tafo Miles 4 SDA on Wednesday, 29th August 2018.
The families of both ladies are inviting friends and love ones to come and mourn with them. May their soul rest in perfect peace
