Many would have expected that since both former President John Agyekum Kufuor and former President Jerry John Rawlings are both Former Presidents of Ghana and senior statesmen, there would have been some level of friendship between them but it is not so.
Too often, the media has been washed with an angry outburst from Jerry John Rawlings either accusing J.A. Kufuor of undermining him or accusing him of corruption.
Speaking on Starr FM’s Starr Chat on Wednesday, former President Kufuor revealed he would have loved to have a friendly relationship with ex-president Rawlings who handed over power to him in 2001 but for his unnecessary attacks on his personality.
Former President John Agekem Kufuor said:
“I would have preferred being friendly with him but every now and then somehow he will burst out saying unfounded things about me and making me feel awkward.”
“I am not worried because I keep a free mind…for the sake of our society naturally I would want the relationship to be quite normal…he was the longest serving Head of State, he should be guided by above all himself, he should know what to say and what not to say,” Kufuor added.
“I keep an open mind and I wish he keeps the same if he really feels there is something Kufuor has done, he rather should approach me to find out”, the former president ended.
