Female inmates(prisoners) of Mtangani GK Prison in Mallindi, Kilifi County of Kenya have submitted a request through prison officers to the government to come out with laws that enable them to have sexual intimacy with their partners.
Sofia Swaleh, an inmate serving a life sentence said the time allocated to their visiting spouses and relatives is very short and does not allow satisfy their sexual appetite.Â
Sofia pleaded to say, “the Government, through the leadership of Kenyan prisons, should introduce a law that allows women serving lengthy jail terms enjoy sexual intimacy with their visiting husbands.”

Mtangani GK Prison senior administrator, Purity Nkatha Muthaura, spoke to K24 Digital, saying it would be impossible to allow the female inmates or even the male inmates to enjoy hymeneal rights except for a new law that allows for visits is passed by Parliament.
In times past, some government officials pushed for it to be passed into law but never came to consummation.
