#3. TONY YEBOAH – FIRST BLACK BUNDESLIGA GOAL KING/CAPTAIN

Tony is considered one of the most prominent and prolific goal scorers in Ghanaian and African football history and gained a reputation for scoring spectacular goals which often featured in Goal of the Month or Goal of the Season competitions, often celebrated by wagging his index finger towards the crowd. Yeboah, as he was affectionately called, was born in Kumasi on the 6th of June 1966. He played for Leeds United and Frankfurt FC among other teams.

#4. CHARLES WIREKO BROBBEY

Charles Wireko-Brobbey who was born on 27th March 1953, in Kumasi is an engineer, politician, diplomat and a businessman in Ghana. He was once the Chief Executive of Ghana’s VRA, then the country’s major power generator and distributor. In the mid-1990s, he established Radio Eye, which was Ghana’s first independent radio station – after the government took the station off the air.

#5. DR. FRIMPONG BOATENG – RENOWNED HEART SURGEON

Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng is a Ghanaian physician and cardiothoracic surgeon who established the National Cardiothoracic Center and the Ghana Red Cross Society. He is also the President of the Ghana Heart Foundation and was the CEO of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

Dr. Boateng who was born in Kumasi in the 1950s also ventured into politics and contested for the flagbearer position in the NPP.
