The Parliament of Ghana will engage in an emergency meeting tomorrow, Sunday, January 21 to swear in the Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye as the President in consonance with the provisions of the country’s constitution.
The recall of Parliamentarians was done by the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament for the Speaker who is currently out of jurisdiction but will return later today.
This is as a result of president Nana Akufo Addo not in the country and the vice president has also been flown to the UK for medical attention after he was hit by illness.

According to the Chief of Staff, Madam Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, the trip became necessary following the advice coming from the doctors of Dr. Bawumia after examining him. He left in the evening of Friday, January 18 and was accompanied by the 2nd Lady and wife, Hajia Samira Bawumia.
Nevertheless, the Vice President of Ghana, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on Friday was reportedly taken to the hospital in the early hours of 19th January 2018, when he complained of ill health.
