Kwabena Agyapong, the suspended General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has taken the outspoken Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako before the court for comments he regards defamatory.
Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi is reported to have said on Kumasi-based Nhyira Fm that Mr. Kwabena Agyapong received a plush car from Ibrahim Mahama, younger brother of former President John Dramani Mahama prior to the 2016 elections to work against his own party, NPP.
“Kwabena Agyapong when he was General Secretary, stooped so low by collecting a plush car from Ibrahim Mahama with the motive of working against the NPP so that the NDC would win the 2016 elections on a silver platter”, Wontumi was reported to have said on October 28, 2016.
He has also sued the radio station allowing their network be used for making the ‘unfounded’ allegations.
Lawyers for the plaintiff observed that the comments were defamatory and brought his image into disrepute faulting the second defendant for allowing their airwaves to be used in the publication of the defamatory statements.
