- It’s all over in Kiev and Real Madrid have won their 13th Champions league cup.
- Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1 to win the champions leagues for the third consecutive time (Video Highlights)
- Karim Benzema opened the scoring for Real Madrid after a horrendous clanger from Karius before Sadio Mane leveled things up not long after.
Gareth Bale then produced two incredible strikes – the first in particular a brilliant overhead kick – to seal the victory, although Karius should have saved the second – Which was a thunderbolt strike from yards out.
Liverpool had started so fearlessly. They were quick to the ball, strong in the challenge and utterly determined to play the game at their pace.
Jurgen Klopp’s side lost Mohamed Salah in the first half with a suspected dislocated shoulder and then saw a Loris Karius gaffe gift Karim Benzema the opener (51) had swiftly rallied in Kiev through Sadio Mane (55).

But after agony and ignominy, Bale delivered a moment befitting of the showpiece, his 64th-minute bicycle kick sealing a 13th European Cup for the Spanish giants and their fourth in five seasons.
Karius suffered further embarrassment when he let Bale’s late strike (83) from range slip through his gloves but though they competed gamely, crucial momentum was lost with Salah’s untimely exit and Klopp’s wait for a European trophy goes on.
Klopp woes continue as he has lost six out of seven cup final defeats as a manager as Real Madrid become the first team since Bayern Munich between 1974 and 1976 to win three successive European Cups.
