Workers of Ghana Bauxite Limited at Awaso in the newly created Western North Region had violent demonstration today, 17th June 2019 at the work premises.
Speaking to Ghpage.com reporters at the venue, the aggrieved workers revealed that the outsourced workers are being underpaid. They revealed some take as low as GHS350.
In February, they had a peaceful demonstration to demand an increment in salary. The Ghana Bauxite Limited administration initially came out with the response that they have nothing for them and they won’t increase their salary.
But after threats of agitation, the administration agreed on a 7% interest yesterday 16th June. But the workers speaking with Ghpage.com revealed that it’s an insult to them.
